Kiss Your Elbow
kye stands for “Kiss Your Elbow”, and it started with a morning stretch my mother recommended as a way to start the day.
When you first get out of bed, stretch your arms over your head as high as possible, reaching towards the ceiling, gently bend over, and touch your toes.
That is good advice that I try to follow every day. She also suggested putting something you use daily on a top shelf as an enforced stretch.
I have suggested these activities to my coaching clients for years as easy and practical habits.
As I started to focus on ways to make happiness a habit, I added a move to the morning stretch:
When you first get out of bed, stretch your arms over your head as high as possible, reaching towards the ceiling, gently bending over, and touching your toes. Now Kiss Your Elbow.
It would be rare for a person to be able to actually kiss their elbow. This move is designed to make you smile. To remind you that playfulness and fun are the easiest path to happiness.
So start your day appreciating your body with a good stretch, and add a silly move to remind yourself to smile.
The value of fun cannot be overstated as a necessary ingredient for your happiness because Happiness is a byproduct of Fun. When you discover the joy of simple moments, you will learn how to make Happiness a Habit and live your best life every day.
“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It’s to enjoy each step along the way.”
~ Wayne Dyer
It is physically impossible to get angry, fret, stew, or worry when you are being playful and having fun? And that if you focus on fun often enough, it’s impossible to be broke, sick, lonely, or confused?
